   As a family physician for over twenty years, I’ve had the opportunity to interview thousands of patients to get their perspectives when caring for them in the clinic and in the hospital. I’m not the funniest doctor, but I am surrounded by hundreds of comedians—and I get to share their material. Patients love to hear that we find what they say is worth repeating for the good of others.  Actually, that message alone helps a lot of people feel better. When I show this collection to other healthcare professionals, they invariably share with me the gem of a quote they treasure from their experience working with people.

    Proving the value of the material in this book, an alternate title could honestly be HOW THE PATIENTS SAVED THE DOCTOR: When the Physician Is the Patient—Reversing the Roles. That is the inside story on how this book was started: The doctor realized how much better he felt when his patients made him laugh--they made him laugh his way to recovering from the tragic death of his daughter.
